Madeleine Carmel Wanslee is a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Arizona. She is a member of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) and is Co-Chair of the Committee on the Annual Meeting (2023-2025). She serves on the Ninth Circuit Public Information and Community Outreach Committee and previously served on the Ninth Circuit Conference Executive Committee (Chair of the 2024 Circuit Judicial Conference), the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Judges Education Committee (Chair 2017-2018), and the Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives Coordinating Committee (Chair 2013-2014). She was Chair of the Arizona State Bar’s Bankruptcy Section (2008-2009) and also helped to charter the Arizona Bankruptcy American Inn of Court (President 2016-2017).

Judge Wanslee is a certified bankruptcy specialist (American Board of Certification) and briefed and argued a bankruptcy case before the U.S. Supreme Court before joining the bench.  She earned her B.F.A. and B.A. from the University of Arizona and her J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law, where she was Executive Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review. She served as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert Clive Jones, Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.
