Jack O'Connor represents business clients in both healthy and distressed situations. As a partner in the firm’s Chicago office, Jack concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate restructuring and insolvency; and also maintains a practice working with businesses in the heavily regulated craft beer, spirits, & cannabis industries.
Restructuring & Insolvency Practice
Jack is widely recognized for his excellent work as a restructuring attorney. Jack represents clients across the country in distressed situations and complex chapter 11 engagements, including business debtors in and out of court, unsecured creditors’ and equity committees, distressed asset purchasers, chapter 11 liquidating trusts, and alternative lenders.
Super Lawyers Magazine, Leading Lawyers Magazine, and the Turnaround Management Association are just a handful of organizations that have recognized Jack for his strategic thinking and tactical expertise as a restructuring attorney.
Corporate Practice in Beer, Spirits, & Cannabis Industries
Jack also counsels clients operating in heavily regulated industries, focusing his work on businesses in the craft beer, spirits, and cannabis sectors. Jack’s experience dealing with specialized regulatory and compliance issues at the local, state, and federal levels is invaluable to clients forming and running businesses in these sectors. Together with his colleagues at SFGH, Jack provides a full range of business services for clients in these industries.
Jack is a native of the western suburbs of Chicago where he and his family now live. In addition to his work as an attorney, Jack co-hosts and produces “I Wish I’d Known That,” a professional development podcast, and is a recreational endurance triathlete and cyclist.
