Ernest Franklin M.D., MBA is the Senior Vice President for Clinical Value and Integration for Baylor Scott and White Health, the ninth largest US not-for-profit health system. Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH) is an integrated payor and provider with $10.5 revenue, a 300,000-covered lives health plan, a 550,000-covered life Accountable Care Organization, 48 hospitals, more than 600 patient care sites, 6,000 affiliated physicians, and 34,000 employees in north and central Texas.
Dr. Franklin leads the post-merger integration of clinical services to remove non-beneficial care and expense, improve clinical outcomes, and reduce expenses by $500 million. In addition, he is a leader in the Surgical Service line and breast imaging. Previous he led several consumer-facing departments including the laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology services, including forming a number of outpatient ventures:
Dr. Franklin came to BSWH in 2010 from McKinsey and Company, where he was a leader in the healthcare practice helping health systems in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, and United Kingdom in workforce transformations, operational improvements, micro-market growth strategies, and corporate strategy.
Before joining McKinsey, Dr. Franklin was a General Surgeon, graduating as the Chief Administrative Resident in Surgery at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University Medical School and receiving the Eugene Bricker Resident Teaching Award. In his sixth year of residency, he was the Joseph Lister Visiting Registrar in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland. In his third and four year of residency, he completed his MBA at Olin School of Management at Washington University in St. Louis. He graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Tulane University School of Medicine, receiving the Oscar Creech and Gold Scalpel Awards.
He serves on the Board of Trustees of Kent School in Connecticut.
