Judge Cary was sworn in as the District of Maine’s fifth United States Bankruptcy Judge in January of 2014. He presently serves as the Chief Judge of the Court.  He is also a panel member of the United States Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the First Circuit, a member of the First Circuit Workplace Conduct Committee, an Observer Judge for the First Circuit Judicial Council, the chair of the Academic Recognition Committee of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, the treasurer of the Maine State-Federal Judicial Council, an advisory director of the Nathan & Henry B. Cleaves Law Library, He received his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1982 (Phi Beta Kappa) and his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1987 (cum laude).  He is certified in both Consumer Bankruptcy Law and Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification.  He and his brother Chris were semifinalists in the 2022 U.S. National Toboggan Championships (as was everyone else who paid the entry fee).

Cancellation/Refund Policy

Written cancellation for the conference or any excursions must be received by midnight on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 for a full refund less a $150 cancellation processing fee. No refunds will be granted after May 17, 2023, but substitutions will be allowed.

National Registry of CPE Sponsors

"Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors" is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org/.
